The only pair of really branded shoes I own are my Ferragamo Vara pumps, which I bought close to 3 years ago. Objectively, they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever put my feet in. Although the heels are low and don't flatter the legs very much, I love them because I could zap between Shenton way and Raffles Place or City Hall during lunchtime at lightning-speed, and not get any blisters. My constant abuse of the shoes have made them look worn out. Perhaps I did not polish them enough in the earlier days, the patent leather has creased a little and lost its shine. I wanted to buy a new pair, but was shocked to discover that they cost $700 a pair now. These days I'm more careful with spending - $700 does not sound like a foregivable price for a pair of shoes!
So I had been looking around for a couple of months to find more affordable 'replacement' shoes for my errands-running. I ended up with a pair of Nine West, then a pair of Andre Valentino, then a pair of Itti & Otto and then a pair of Charles & Keith. Why so many pairs?! Because each of them fail me in terms of comfort. They are pretty but not comfortable. The comfortable ones are not pretty! Sigh!
My latest acquisition is a pair of Clarks Plover Call, which I hesitated buying initially because it was going to set me back by another $128. When I finally decided to buy based on the comfort-factor, it was out of stock Singapore-wide! Thank God my nice boss happened to be in London on business, so I begged him to pick them up from the store for me! [He went through much trouble for this, so I'm very grateful. Thanks har, towkay!] They are quite comfortable, and look quite pretty. *Lurve*.At the end of the day, I spent about $400 buying this and that shoes, all in the hope of finding a pair that can match up to my Ferragamos. Still not quite there. My hubby said that I should have just saved up a bit more and get a new pair of Vara pumps, rather than to limp around in hansa-plastered feet in those other shoes! : (
